How to write your real estate resume
All states require real estate brokers and sales agents to be licensed, and sales agents work under a broker, so list your license type, the state and the brokerage you're affiliated with. Appraisers should give their license or certification level and state; property managers should note a property management or broker's license, which most states require for that work.
Production is what gets compared. Agents can show transaction sides closed, sales volume, days on market and sale-to-list price ratio; property managers can show occupancy, renewals, on-time rent collection and the budgets they ran; appraisers can show report volume and turn times. For instance: "Closed 21 transaction sides in 2025, with listings selling at an average of 98% of list price."
If you work on commission, a slow market year can look thin on paper. Fill it with the activity that kept going, such as open houses held, new leads, referral partners or designations earned, and keep the brokerage name on each role so the timeline stays clear.
Put this guide to work
Should an inactive or expired real estate license stay on my resume?
An inactive one does, marked as inactive. Texas shows why: its Real Estate Commission calls inactive licenses current licenses that renew without continuing education, so the credential you trained for still counts if you've moved into leasing, lending or facilities work.
Put the status beside the license, as in "Texas sales agent license (inactive since 2025)." The commission tells inactive holders not to engage in brokerage activity, so the label also tells an employer you can't be closing deals on the side. An expired license is different: the commission says it isn't a current license, so move it to past credentials with the years you held it.
Can I call myself a Realtor on my resume?
Use REALTOR® for membership, not as a job title. The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) reserves the term for its members, and a member's right to it ends automatically if they stop being a member in good standing. NAR also says the marks must not be used generically to denote a vocation.
So make your title the license you hold, such as Sales Agent or Associate Broker, followed by the brokerage. If you belong, add "Member, National Association of REALTORS®" and your local association under Affiliations. Former members can describe the same work without the word.
Which numbers should lead a facilities manager resume?
A Facilities Manager resume starts with scale: the number of buildings or sites, total square footage, the kind of space (offices, labs, warehouses or retail) and the operating budget you control. Follow with results an owner tracks, like work orders closed within target, preventive maintenance done on schedule, energy use reduced and vendor contracts rebid.
Put each credential with its issuer. The International Facility Management Association's Certified Facility Manager (CFM) asks for five years of facility management experience, or three with a facility management degree, so it signals a track record. Coming from a Facility Executive or coordinator job? Say which of those numbers you owned.

Start by deciding which document you need: a job CV for most jobs outside North America, an academic CV for faculty, research and grad school applications, or a resume for other jobs in the US and Canada. List everything newest first, keep most job CVs to two pages and let an academic CV run as long as your record needs. Show what you achieved in each role with numbers you can back up, tailor the CV to each application and send it as a PDF unless the employer wants a Word file.
